San Gabriel Valley Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (SGV-NCNW) is a volunteer organization, chartered June 6, 1990. Its vision is to support and sponsor programs that provide human care, health and educational services to African American women and their families in the communities served by SGV-NCNW. Focus on delivering services in education, community outreach, youth development, as well as health and wellness, has been consistent for many years. SGV-NCNW is most proud of its impact and influence on our youth and their development, educationally and socially.

The San Gabriel Valley Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (SGV-NCNW) proudly offers the Young Legends Scholarship, designed to support and empower graduating high school seniors as they embark on their educational journeys. This scholarship seeks to recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievements, leadership abilities, and a strong commitment to community service.

- Leadership: Exhibit leadership qualities through participation in school clubs, sports teams, student government, or other extracurricular activities. Community Service: Engage in meaningful community service activities, showing a dedication to improving the community and helping others.
- Ambassador Role: Serve as an ambassador for the SGV-NCNW by promoting the values of education, leadership, and community service within their school and community.
- Mentorship: Be open to mentoring opportunities provided by SGV-NCNW members and
- alumni, helping to inspire and guide future scholarship applicants.

The SGV-NCNW Young Legends Scholarship is more than just a financial award; it is an investment in the potential and future of young leaders who will shape and inspire our communities for years to come. Criteria
Students must be active SGV-NCNW Young Legends members for at least 1 year prior to applying for the scholarship.
Graduating high school Young Legends of African descent/Black or BIPOC may apply.
Young Legends students must be residents of California planning to attend college. Attending college outside of California is permitted.
Young Legends high school graduates who plan to attend a four-year college (university or private college) or community college during the 2024-2025 academic year.
A GPA minimum of 2.5 or better.
Students demonstrate leadership, volunteer service in their church and/or community. Students must have a minimum of 25 hours of volunteer/community service within 1 year (internal or external to SGV-NCNW).
Proof of current class registration.

One (1) letter of recommendation (professional)
