Youth Development

Empowering young minds fosters leadership, resilience, and innovation. It cultivates a skilled workforce, promotes social progress, and ensures a brighter tomorrow for both individuals and society.

Young Legends Youth Program

The Young Legends Youth Section was established in 2009 by SGV-NCNW with a solid commitment to empowering young individuals to lead successful, inspired lives while fostering cultural pride, self-resiliency, and social skills. The programs and activities offered enhance the educational and leadership skills of the youth.

The ultimate goal is to prepare them better for college or post-secondary education, boost their self-esteem, and empower them to make positive choices for their future and those of others they may lead. Young Legends provides many offerings and benefits, including the following:
  • Math and Science Tutoring
  • STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)
  • College Preparation Workshops
  • Career Readiness Workshops
  • Financial Literacy Workshops
  • Technology Workshops
  • Speech Presentation Skills
  • Social Skills, Etiquette, etc.
  • Community Service Activities

School Programs

Adopt-A-School Program

The Adopt-a-School Program initiated by SGV-NCNW aims to support local schools that require additional resources. The members of SGV-NCNW can work with these schools by providing them with the necessary equipment, classroom supplies, and hygiene essentials or volunteering their time to enhance the student's educational experience. This program helps foster a strong relationship between the school and the community.

Back-To-School Program

The SGV-NCNW Back-to-School Program is designed to provide supplies for elementary and high students preparing to go back to school. Traditionally, donations have included backpacks, school supplies, Colgate Smile kits (sponsored by Colgate), and masks. We also provided over 100 bags of groceries to those families in need.

SGV-NCNW Young Women's Auxiliary

The Young Women's Auxiliary is a group of young women of African descent between the ages of 18 and 39. This intergenerational group plays a unique role in our section by assisting our organization in its mission. They advocate and focus on issues important to the overall well-being of women's lives, whether social, economic, health and wellness or political. This group meets monthly for sister bonding through social activities.
There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish. "
- First Lady Michelle Obama
